welcome and welcome back...
today I will be talking about the significance of writing thoughts out and
answering questions to challenge the thoughts.
i will use a journal exerpt to demonstrate...
the love for [pronoun]
really does trigger a fear.
an anxiety
that is how deep it goes
it consumes almost every part of my psyche
ah rarely trust
ah rarely love
ah rarely let someone in
ah rarely do that.
....
like i am playing with
the monster in my closet
under my bed.
attempting to make friends with the shadowery figures a dark room.
*Now, I answer challenge these thoughts by 1) writing it down 2)challenging them with asking for evidence for how true they are and what i will tell a friend experiencing this*
i love my current life
I honestly hope and pray that
our love transcends all normalcy
that it is revolutionary
i pray to Allah to grant me this
If it is good for me in this life and the next
so [word of endearment]. focus on yourself.
you're amazing
smart, and extremely cool!
you'll be loved
you will always be loved
the love of your life
they will surely give you happiness
you deserve that rare love.
it got you this bad.
*Disclaimer: anonymous been through years of therapy to get to this point and still struggles. You can try to have this as a nudge towards the benefits of non-diagnosed, non-medicated therapy*
I think it's interesting how deep it delves into the thoughts as it pertains to linking the monster in the closet to an unknown relationship based situation. I find it cool that the style of this poem is one that explains a psychiatric style of promoting mental health. It does a good job expanding on anxieties when it comes to love and relationship. However, I feel as though it could use more creative imagery and symbolism that moves it into the realm of the abstract. It's very straight forward in it's expression, which while isn't a bad thing, and does serve it's purpose could use a little more emphasis to heighten the emotions. In the realm of therapy however I see the straight forward approach to be useful.
ReplyDeleteyes, i usually make my writings as abstract and up to interpretation it can be. i do agree that it can use more symbolism and imagery to place the reader into the headspace/environment this (unknown) writer was in. I can try adding background and environmental segments to bring those desired elements in. As per your last part, yes, I decided to be straight forward because I wanted it to be helpful and less cryptic and esoteric as my writings tend to be. I can use original drawings and illustrations in future posts to boost the world building. Take care
