it is rarely a symptom
when the figurative is Black.
when the person is Black,
it is rarely a symptom,
especially a desendant
barely know any
other recognizable language.
barely at the limit's limit.
i've been stretched thin for
far too long. for far too
many times.
to look forward to full, normal
life? lies you are telling me.

I think it's interesting, it almost feels like it's intentionally incomplete. "lies you are telling me." Seems like it would lead into another segment further expanding on the central theme of the poem on blackness.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your response. "lies you are telling me" is statement i created whenever i ruminate. it is like a continuous rumination you can imagine indeed. i feel like it is less of about blackness, but it is more about the negative experiences because of blackness. the rumination and mistreatment within mental health and medical spaces...as per the usage of "symptom" and whenever a diagnosis is made it is another peg that lessens your humanity despite efforts to negate that...
